For New Patients

The Elms welcomes new patients

Clinic Frontage

The Elms is owned and run by General Practitioners who are committed to maintaining the central role of the traditional family doctor. Our standard consultation length is 15 minutes, meaning our doctors have more time for you.

We have a wide range of services, including clinic nurses, pathology collection, psychologists, podiatry, physiotherapy, women's diagnostic ultrasound, echocardiography, and dietitian. Visiting regularly is a specialist cardiologist, and a specialist vascular surgeon. We are also a Government registered provider of Yellow Fever vaccination for travellers to affected regions of Africa, and Central and South America.

As part of The Village - Bacchus Marsh Shopping Centre, we are located on the car park off Main Street directly opposite the Bacchus Marsh Post Office boxes (see location map). Pedestrian access to The Elms from within the shopping centre can be via the walkthrough pharmacy.

The Elms is a private clinic, however, we offer a concession rate for normal appointments to holders of a pension card, a Health Care Card, and children under 16 years of age. Veterans' Affairs Gold Card holders are bulk-billed for all normal appointments. For information about fees and billing, click here.

You can find additional information about our clinic on this website, or by asking one of our friendly receptionists.

It is our clinic policy that drugs of dependence, including Schedule 8 Controlled Drugs (narcotic painkillers) and certain sedatives, will not be prescribed to new patients at their first appointment. These medications have strict legislative controls regarding their use and they are illegal to prescribe without a valid Government-issued permit.

The Elms provides patients with a free reminder service for scheduled events such as upcoming appointments, follow-up pathology or radiology tests, and required clinical reviews. This is via SMS for patients with a confirmed mobile phone number. Patients without a mobile phone will receive reminders by post. It is the responsibility of the patient to ensure that they inform reception of any changes to their contact details to protect the personal nature of such communications.

If you wish to opt out of this service, please inform your doctor, practice nurse or reception staff.

Where to start . . .

Please contact our receptionists on (03) 5367 6662 to book an appointment (online booking is only available after initial registration as a new patient).

We encourage all new patients to present at the clinic 10 minutes before their first scheduled appointment to allow time for our reception staff to collect and register your information. All new patients (apart from minors) must show photo identification at initial registration. A standard appointment is for 15 minutes, although longer appointments may be requested for patients with complex or multiple conditions.

Please bring with you your current Medicare or Veterans' Affairs Card, and any Concession or Health Care Cards, otherwise you will not be able to claim Medicare rebates.

To take advantage of Medicare Australia's electronic lodgement of claims, you will also need to register your bank account details at any Medicare office.
